ASUS Prime B850M-A AMD B850 Socket AM5 Micro ATX - Motherboard brings a versatile, performance-focused foundation for modern AMD systems with support for the Socket AM5 platform.
Designed for AMD Ryzen 7000, 8000 and 9000 Series processors, the ASUS Prime B850M-A supports Socket AM5 CPUs and includes a robust AMD B850 chipset to unlock balanced performance for gaming, content creation and productivity.
The board supports DDR5 memory in four DIMM slots with dual-channel architecture, ECC and non-ECC compatibility, and a maximum capacity of 256 GB (up to 64 GB per slot). Memory speeds up to 8000 MHz are supported to help deliver responsive multitasking and fast application loading.
Storage and expandability are excellent for a micro ATX design: three M.2 slots (one PCIe 5.0 x4 and two PCIe 4.0), up to seven total storage drives and four SATA III connectors. RAID 0/1/5/10 is supported for advanced storage setups and data protection.
Connectivity covers modern needs with PCIe slots (two PCIe 4.0 x16 and one PCIe 5.0 x16), USB ports including USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A and multiple USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 2.0 ports, a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, HDMI 2.1 and two DisplayPort 1.4 outputs. The onboard audio offers 7.1-channel output and front panel audio support for immersive sound.
Cooling and build convenience are well addressed with passive cooling, one CPU fan header, three chassis fan connectors, RGB LED headers (three), TPM and a full set of power connectors including 24-pin ATX and an 8-pin EPS. The micro ATX form factor (244 x 244 mm) fits compact cases while maintaining strong expansion capabilities.
Typical use cases include a compact gaming rig powered by Ryzen 7000/8000/9000 processors, a mid-range content-creation workstation with fast NVMe storage, or a reliable office PC with RAID-backed storage. The board’s combination of PCIe 5.0 support, high-speed DDR5 memory and 2.5Gb Ethernet makes it future-ready for upgrades.
Key selling points: Socket AM5 support for the latest Ryzen CPUs, DDR5 up to 8000 MHz and 256 GB, PCIe 5.0 M.2 and x16 expansion, 2.5Gb Ethernet, RAID support and a compact micro ATX design.
