Types
There are four types of LG microwaves ovens. Solo microwaves are countertop models that do all the basics. The models still have some excellent technology though and most come with anti-bacterial cavities, auto cook menus and Intellowave – which ensures even cooking. You can choose a model between 19 to 23 litres which is fine for solo, everyday use.
You can also find grill microwave ovens – which generally have large built-in grillers – perfect for browning and crisping food. Convection microwaves allow you to bake, grill and brown your food while cooking and LG has one of the widest range of convection models to choose from. Their convection microwaves range up to a massive 41 litres capacity, too.
Top-end models, such as the LG ML-3483FRR and MP-9889FCR, have SolarDOM technology. This is one of the most innovative features on LG’s microwave ovens and can cook food four times faster than conventional ovens which is perfect if you have a busy schedule. SolarDOM models are a lot larger and often have three level rack systems – perfect if you have a big family to cook for.
Additional features
LG have a range of features and technologies exclusive to their brand and it is worth considering looking into the extras each microwave offers. A Stainless Steel Cavity will ensure your food is evenly cooked throughout the microwave. Some microwaves have coated cavities which can peel off after a lot of use or rubbing from the microwave’s turntable but the stainless feature does not do this. It’s also easy to clean with a simple wipe down. If you are often on the go and don’t have a lot of time then the automatic cleaning feature Light Disinfect is a handy add-on.
Another popular feature of the LG range is the auto cook functions. Every microwave has an auto cook menu which is ideal if you are just learning to cook or, again, don’t have a lot of time on your hands. It’s also great for helping you out with the perfect cooking times and settings for all sorts of different foods. The auto cook menu can come with up to 151 pre-prepared settings which means all you have to do is prepare the ingredients and then let the microwave do the rest. The Multi-cook Tawa is a useful extra and the specially coated non-stick tray is perfect for dishes that need extra browning or cooking on the bottom. Despite all the extra features LG microwaves are quite straight forward to use and some models have a next step guide which helps you through which button to press next. The manual also covers how to work everything, too.
If you are paying good money for your microwave then you will expect it to last a long time and there are a host of websites to pick up LG microwave spares to replace a broken glass turntable or bulb.
