Introduction

Here we’re going to take a look at built in dishwashers, and in particular the Bosch built in dishwasher.

To start with we’ll look at some basic information about dishwashers and their features. In general, when used on economy programmes, dishwashers use less water than doing the washing up by hand. They also wash more thoroughly and hygienically than by hand. Different models of dishwashers use different amounts of electricity and water. ‘A’ rated dishwashers are the most efficient and ‘G’ rated are the least.

Most dishwashers have 3 main programmes; intensive wash, standard wash and economy wash. Some have programmes which can sense how dirty the dishes are, and automatically choose the appropriate programme.

There are freestanding standard-sized dishwashers, which are 60cm wide and the most common. There are slimline freestanding models which are usually 45cm but have smaller capacity. There are integrated or built in dishwashers, which fit inside a cabinet, and also semi-integrated models. We’re going to be mainly looking at Bosch built in dishwashers.

Some useful features on the best dishwashers are:

Adjustable racks, so you can adjust the rack heights to accommodate different sized items. Indicator lights, to warn you if rinse aid or salt need topping up. Rinse aid is a feature which aids in reducing drying time and helps get dishes shinier and smear free. Salt is used to soften water.

Anti-flood device, this will detect water in the base of a machine and stop it filling further.

Child lock stops the door being opened while the dishwasher is running.

Timer delay, with this you can set a machine to run during the night, handy if you live in an area where electricity is cheaper at night.

Three in one button, these are used for dishwaters tablets with a three in one function.

There are several Bosch built in dishwashers with all these features, so let’s a look at a few of them.

Bosch models

The Bosch SRV43M03GB is a Bosch built in dishwasher which is slimline with 9 place settings, 4 programmes and 52dB noise level. It has an efficient A energy rating and has been rated ‘A’ for washing and drying performance. This Bosch built in dishwasher has an anti-flood device, quick wash feature and comes with 2 year warranty.

A Bosch built in dishwasher that has received maximum marks in built in dishwasher reviews, is the Bosch Classixx SMV50C00GB. This Bosch built in dishwasher also has 13 place settings and is 'A’ rated for washing and drying performance. All this makes it amongst the best dishwashers on the market.
Other Bosch built in dishwashers available include the Bosch SGV53E43GB, with 5 programmes, 12 places settings and 52dB noise level, the SMI50C02GB Bosch dishwasher, with half load function and ‘A’ ratings, the Bosch SBV65M00GB, with 13 place settings, 6 programmes and 44dB noise level, and the SMI50C05GB Bosch built in dishwasher, with 5 programmes, half load function and ‘A’ ratings.

The Bosch Integra 500 SHX45P05UC was rated the best luxury dishwasher by consumers, in more than 100 reviews, for its quiet operation, sleek design, cleaning ability and reliability ratings. The controls are hidden at the top of the machine’s door and many users said they could hardly hear it running. The dishwasher achieved top scores for efficiency and has an adjustable upper rack and flexible silverware basket.

The Bosch Logixx SGS65L22 has been rated as having the best water-saving cycle available. It is an eco-friendly model which has 12 place settings, 7 programmes, 44dB noise level and 12 litre water consumption.

Bosch built in dishwashers are very popular with users on online house improvement sites. Bosch dishwashers tend to be made of stainless steel tubs, which don’t discolour like plastic tubs can be. Bosch dishwashers do not come fitted with self-cleaning filters with hard food grinders, which means you sometimes need to clean out the filter, but it also means they are particularly quiet. The Bosch dishwasher also dries in a different manner. It doesn’t come with heated-dry cycle, instead recycling the heat produced by hot water used when cleaning. Condensation is drained so there is never steam upon opening the dishwasher after using it.

There are other highly rated brands out there too, such as Miele, Zanussi, Whirlpool and Hoover, but overall, the Bosch brand make some of the best dishwashers, getting excellent reviews from customers, especially for their low rate of repairs and overall cleaning ability.
