NO BETTER CONSOLE

By Anonymous (12/02/2007)
  • Pros: game choice, power, graphics, online gaming, new dashboard, apperance
  • Cons: expensive, size and weight, networking

When I got my hands on this very fine machine, nearly a year ago, I was indeed very pleased. Even the box looked better! Once I had opened the box, ripped out the console and hooked it up to the T.V, I took a moment to admire my new acclaimed "entertainment hub."
Once I booted the console I had to go through an annoyingly long process to configure my user profile. I quickly put project Gotham 3 in the console and began power-sliding around Las Vegas. I was indeed very happy! When I finally plugged it into my 28inch widescreen T.V I finally saw the beauty of the graphics, Microsoft had created a brilliant, although slightly pricey product. I then decided to subscribe to Xbox live gold. And this is where an annoying problem started. The console is across the house fro my router and as attractive as ripping up floorboards seemed I decided to use my linksys wireless adaptor I used with my old Xbox. It took about 4 hours to recognize the adaptor and after a bit of tinkering the connection remained steady. I'm told that the 360 USB adaptor works out of the box, but the Xbox 360 has already eaten into my wallet enough for one year. Once I subscribed to the service I realized just how much of a change Microsoft had made. I can download just about every media consumable there is on the 360. Unfortunately Xbox seems to think that it's right to charge for some downloads more money on top of the £40 yearly subscription. The only thing worth paying for on top of the subscription is the arcade games. Still a year on and I cannot get any of the computers in my house to recognize the 360 and use it as a media centre extender. Oh well. Parents can also take comfort in the fact that they can stop certain user profiles from playing or watching games and movies of a certain certification.
All-in-all the console provides a great way to entertain all people of all age groups.
