If you cannot afford the monthly cost of an iphone then the next best thing is certainly an ipod touch. It is a great product. You can use it for a wide range of things. Apps, photography, instant messaging with imessage and calling people with Skype or Facetime.

Short extract: Apple 's iPod touch has had a radical makeover, with the fourth-generation Touch coming in the wake of the widely praised iPhone 4 and offering some of the same features. It is Apple's best iPod to date and can be considered a triple threat: a gaming console, multimedia player and internet device.

Short extract: Apple’s iPod Touch is essentially an iPhone with all the phone functions ripped out. You would be forgiven for wondering exactly what the point of such a gadget might be, but in practice it’s an extremely impressive and handy device.

Summary: With a faster CPU, Retina display and FaceTime, what's not to like?

    • Good range of features, Impressive performance, Crisp sound quality
    • Slow connection speed, Poor photo quality, Disappointing Game Center
    • 9 out of 10

Summary: A high-resolution screen and video calling just made the best better, but we'd recommend an iPhone 4 if you can afford it.

Short extract: A high-resolution screen and video calling just made the best better, but we'd recommend an iPhone 4 if you can afford it.

    • High-resolution screen, Video calling, Easy to use, Loads of apps
    • Rubbish camera, No FM radio or GPS, Reliance on iTunes
    • 10 out of 10

Short extract: For its latest iPod Touch, Apple has closed the gap between what its portable media player and iPhone 4 are capable of. In fact, it's pretty much fair to say that this time around the iPod touch is an iPhone without the phone capability.

Conclusion: The latest iPod touch is an improvement all-round. With its incredible screen, built-in camera and amazing user interface, this is the best media player around.

Description
Apple iPod Touch 8GB 4th Generation Black

Global Description:

In today's "app" age it is easy to forget the product that first set the bar for the competition, the iPod Touch. The latest version, the Apple iPod Touch 8GB 4th Generation Black has certainly come a long way since the device was unveiled to the world back in 2007, and this fourth offering has managed to improve it even further.

The fourth generation iPod Touch with its multi-touch graphical user interface now comes with a front-facing 5-megapixel camera, HD camcorder, FaceTime video calling, integrated microphone, gyroscope sensor, Retina Display and many more excellent features.

In terms of its design, the Touch 4th Generation Black is slimmer and lighter than its predecessor, making for the best iteration of the portable media player we have seen so far. Similar to the iPhone, but without the calling capabilities, the Touch Black is certainly at the forefront of technology.

The quality of the photos taken with the Touch 8GB 4th Generation Black are not yet up to the standards of the most up-to-date iPhone, and while a 3G data service is still not provided for the device, this model is still a remarkable upgrade on an already sound product.

Plus, it is easy to forget that it gives you access to the hundreds of games and applications available in the company's flagship App Store.

Features/Characteristics:

The Apple iPod Touch 8GB 4th Generation Black should certainly not feel overawed in the company of the latest tablet computers as it is able to do almost anything you would ever want from a mobile device when on the move.

Its rivals have been busy over the past few years developing their own portable media players and phones which offer so much more than just making calls. As the tech world has started to catch up with Apple, the iPod Touch has had to evolve.

This meant that the Touch Black needed to get it right, and thankfully it has. The integrated memory capacity of 8GB is ample for the casual user and the product has been sensibly priced by Apple.

Improvements come in the form of a faster A4 processor, a more attractive looking screen, a compacter design and a raft of impressive new features. The iPod Touch now has an integrated mono microphone and front-facing camera, which were notably absent from the previous version.

The fact that you can now use the Apple iPod Touch to make FaceTime video calls and record movies on its HD camcorder makes the device even more indispensible than ever before. And to run these kinds of applications while offering around 40 hours of battery life for audio playback and just under eight hours for video, the player simply blows the competition out of the water.

In terms of its capabilities, the iPod can do so much more than other similar products and its scope is certainly far-reaching. It can make for an excellent internet radio, a portable gaming machine, a PDA alternative as well as a GPS receiver.

Weighing just 101g, users of the Touch 4th Generation are able to admire the power of this small screen device, with the experience comparable with the likes of the iPad and iPhone, but without the monthly contract.

With the Touch 4th Generation you can store all your favourite songs and videos in your personalised iTunes library and take this collection with you wherever you go. The files will all be stored within this compact, pocket-sized device, so you can listen to music or watch films whenever you feel like it.

When it comes to internet browsing, the Touch loads the pages super-fast so you shouldn't have any issues surfing the net or utilising the online capabilities of your applications.

Overall, the iPod Touch 4th Generation Black is a top quality portable media player which boasts more features than ever before, meaning its capabilities easily surpass even its closest rivals.

If you have decided to buy the Apple iPod Touch 8GB 4th Generation Black then you have certainly come to the right place as you can now choose between the price listings of many of the top online retailers and get the best value for your money.
