Good Points
- Good uni-body aluminium construction
- Sleek looking
- Nice interface
- Removable battery and sd card.
- A wealth of available software
Bad Points
- Battery is very short. Apparently all new smartphones are like this. Which is a pity because my old nokia lasted for 2 weeks without a charge
- Grip of death Wi-fi. If you cover the phone with your hand on the upper corner the Wi-fi reception goes from full to zero. This happens if you're typing sideways. Not sure if it was just my unit as it's getting replaced.
- Locked bootloader. For "security" reasons the bootloader is locked. It makes a pain to install an alternative rom like CyanogenMod. Till a one click solution comes I don't think I'll bother with this one.

Summary: The HTC Desire was launched at the beginning of 2010. Undoubtedly 2010 was a successful year for the company. The phone came with an excellent software, affordable price and cute design. These were its key features and it's clear why exactly a year...

Conclusion: I guess the main problem of this handset lies in the fact that the developers have decided to experiment a very successful software in mid-range hardware. Of course this creates some inadequacy and we can classify the HTC Desire S neither in mid-range,...

Pro : 1.1   GB ROM ; 768 MB RAM ; Android 2.3 ; HTC Sense integration with contacts ; Fast internet browsing (including Flash support)

Cons : 3.7-inch screen ; No dual-core processor ; Shoddy video recording ; Battery life

      9 out of 10

Summary: The Desire S is a recent addition to the range of Android phones from HTC and, as a result, has benefitted from the company's experience. It is of a nice size and feels right in the hand and, having a fast enough processor and 1G of memory will meet...

Conclusion: At about £430 SIM-free or from £20 and upwards per month this is not cheap. It is, however, good value for money for a serious and most effective smartphone

Summary: Quick look at the differences between the old and new HTC Desire's

Conclusion: We've only had a short time with the HTC Desire S, but it's clear that it offers a couple of significant advantages, namely it's speed and the screen. Side by side the Desire S is significantly quicker and the screen is slighlty better. However for...

      8 out of 10

Summary: The latest HTC Desire S has great hardware and UI, but it doesn't quite feel like enough to fight off the dual-core challengers just around the corner.

Pro : Sleek design ; HTC Sense UI ; Battery

Cons : Processor ; Media player ; Lack of progress
