Summary: The TomTom Go 940 LIVE is a GPRS-enabled in car satnav with 4.3-inch, 480x272-pixel touchscreen, 4GB Flash memory, Bluetooth and FM transmitter. Features include live traffic updates, Google searches, voice recognition and smart route timing.

Conclusion: Salesmen and lorry drivers criss-crossing the country will appreciate the sheer wealth of time-shaving features on board the 940. Weekend drivers, however, might find this hitch-hiker an expensive luxury.

Pro : Is this a satnav or an iPhone stuck on its side? The 940’s GPRS web connection is a long way from 3G but it’s just right for keeping you up to date with local road conditions, tracking down businesses and saving a third of a penny on a litre of...

Cons : You’ll have to spend a lot of time on the road at rush hour to justify TomTom’s £8 monthly fee for the Live services (although do you get the first three months' free). The service has had some teething issues, too, including poor coverage in some areas
