Good Points
Nice big screen. Ability to download games. 2 Built in cameras. Web browser.
Bad Points
The larger screen on the XL shows up how back the graphics are on this (sorry) dated console. Sooo blocky. It's such a shame that that's not been updaed too. Also the internet stuff seems a little to very slow. I've got bored trying to download content a number of times. No flash support in the browser so Moshi Monsters doesn't work (for example).

I don't think I'd be quite so critical if the price reflected the poor visuals but it's still a bit on the expensive side considering the dated graphics.

Good Points
Bought the DSi for my 7 year old daughter and she absolutly loves it.
Bad Points
Due ti Nintendo not making DSi's anymore and only making and promoting the 3D ones, I found the price a bit expensive.

Does everything it's supposed to. The larger screen of the XL version though is far clearer than the smaller versions. Well worth the extra money.

      8 out of 10

Summary: Nintendo's hugely successful handheld - now available in full-fat format

Conclusion: This grown-up version of the DSi is much easier on the eye and easily justifies the extra cost

Pro : Larger screens; pen stylus is more comfortable to hold; web browser included

Cons : More expensive than the regular DSi; display resolution unchanged

    • cnet.co.uk

      8 out of 10

Summary: The Nintendo DSi XL is larger than the DSi but otherwise pretty much the same. Unless you're desperate for more touchscreen real estate or your vision is impaired, we'd recommend you opt for the cheaper DSi

Conclusion: Playing games on the DSi XL is a slightly different experience to playing games on smaller systems like the DSi and DS Lite. The device's weight and bulk mean you may need to grip the system in a way you're currently unaccustomed to. You'll also have...

Pro : Larger screens than its predecessors have ; Improved viewing angles ; Fantastic battery life ; Great new pen-shaped stylus ; Some games and software pre-installed

Cons : Rather bulky and heavy ; Its size makes it less portable ; No improvements to the DSi's cameras and internal storage ; Text-based games may look slightly blurry ; Old DSiWare games can't be transferred over to the DSi XL

Summary: The Nintendo handheld is back and bigger than ever; say hello to the DSi XL...................The handheld gaming market is really starting to heat up: Apple have stated their desire to see the iPhone as a games-oriented device and plan similar things...

Pro : Bigger screen; more comfortable; bigger stylus; nice design

Cons : bigger in size, but not in performance; reduced portability

Summary: Portable console gaming has always been a fiercely fought-over market (ah, how we mourned the passing of the Sega Megadrive!), usually with just one or two emerging as front runners. Nintendo's original DS proved an instant ...

Conclusion: The newly expanded DSi is clearly targeted at older users with its sober colours, much larger screen, fatter stylus and wider viewing angle, but even youngsters won't mind the extra bulk in exchange for a bigger and brighter playing surface.
