Good Points
This camera is the best thing since sliced bread.
Beaches, pools, the bottom of a beer glass (oops), skiing, climbing (and falling)... you name it, the Olympus survives it.
Bad Points
It's indestructible, but you can still lose it :(

      6 out of 10

Summary: A camera with the word “Tough” in the name really has two ways it should be judged. First, as a camera — its image quality, features, and how it stacks up against other similarly priced point-and-shoots. [...]

Pro : Tough! Can use underwater ; Good image quality in bright light ; Large LCD

Cons : Poor image quality in normal or low light ; Rampant red eye ; Lousy image stabilization

      6 out of 10

Summary: Most camera makers have a waterproof compact in their product range these days. Olympus, however, has three. First of all, the TG-310 gives other entry-level models (Fuji XP30, for example) a run for their money with its rock-bottom price. Second, the...

Conclusion: There are better waterproof cameras than the TG-610 out there right now, with higher-sensitivity sensors and sharper lenses. However, the TG-610 boasts a high-end build and finish for its mid-range price tag, and it's the only waterproof compact that...

Pro : Waterproof to 5 m, shockproof to 1.5 m, integrated lens cover ; Bright, high-def screen with good viewing angles ; High-quality build and finish

Cons : Mediocre picture quality: sharpness and sensitivity could be better ; Video mode isn't great (under-exposed picture, mono sound) ; Slow to charge with USB charger ; Long lists of options in main menu / Quick menu doesn't open up on the last setting used

Summary: If you're the outward bound, extreme sports or seasoned traveller type, yout backpack won't be complete without some form of rugged camera to capture those special moments while you're cheerfully risking life and limb. Olympus has ...

Conclusion: The Olympus TOUGH TG-610 would be the perfect rugged digital camera to take with you on seaside and snow holidays with its water friendly features, good quality imagery and fun effects, were it not let down by a sloppy navigation control.

      7 out of 10

Summary: Olympus has just launched its Quicksilver-branded TG-610 tough series of digital cameras- giving this brand a real Australian outdoorsy flavour.

Conclusion: So my only gripe were the clunky buttons and perhaps also the late-90s styling – retro may be in but it doesn't mean I have to like it. All-in-all, the Olympus TG-610 is an easy to use solid little performer in an ever-increasing field.

Pro : tough, easy to use and good picture output

Cons : clunky buttons and a style-free design
