    • alaTest.co.uk

      10 out of 10

Summary: alaTest has collected and analyzed 87 reviews of Nikon Coolpix AW100 from international magazines and websites.

Conclusion: The average review rating is 7.85/10. Comparing these reviews to 668283 other Digital Compact Cameras reviews gives this product an overall alaScore 95/100 (or 9.5 out of 10) = Excellent Quality.

    • pocket-lint.com

      7 out of 10

Summary: With compact cameras slimming down, folding optics becoming more sophisticated and prices dropping, more and more waterproof models are appearing. Nikon's first waterproof Coolpix is the AW100.

Conclusion: The Nikon Coolpix AW100 produces reasonable results and packs in many features, but it does struggle with highlights. The easy access controls could be better designed and this camera does sit towards the top end in terms of price.

Pro : Packed with features, solid build

Cons : Image noise, controls can be a little fiddly, action button controls could be better

    • digitalcamera-hq.com

      9 out of 10

Summary: Nikon finally got the ruggedized camera right in the AW100, it seems. The AW100 is still a compromise in some respects (battery life), but image quality is good enough for most purposes and, with waterproofing to 33 ft and shockproofing to 5, it can...

    • whatdigitalcamera.com

      9 out of 10

Summary: Rock climbing, snorkelling, skiing, running or walking in all weathers; Nikon's Coolpix AW100 is the companies entry into a growing camera market segment that is aimed at the more outdoorsy type...

Conclusion: The Nikon Coolpix AW100 is priced at £299.99 (from Nikon's web site) but shopping around online can get it significantly cheaper, the lowest I found being £249.99, nevertheless, it still positions the AW100 at the higher end of the ruggedised digital...

Pro : Feature rich, Waterproof, Freeze proof and shockproof, Filter adapter, Good image quality

Cons : Expensive, Power usage (particularly with GPS switched on), Image Noise

    • digitalversus.com

      6 out of 10

Summary: There's a single compartment on the right-hand edge of the camera for the battery, memory card and connections. To unlock the compartment, you turn a big chunky wheel—that's nice and easy to grip with wet hands—while pressing the button in the middle...

Conclusion: The Nikon Coolpix AW100 is a compact water- and weather-proof snapper aimed at divers, hikers and outdoor types in general. However, the lens and sensitivity are slightly disappointing, which ultimately makes us prefer rivals like the Panasonic FT3.

Pro : Waterproof (10 m), shockproof (1.5 m) and coldproof (-10°C) ; Responsive (autofocus, start-up) ; Easy to use ; GPS works faster than in most cameras (except in built-up areas)

Cons : Picture quality could be better, especially from 800 ISO upwards ; Sound quality in video mode ; Videos are under-exposed when filmed indoors
