Good Points
Huge improvement over the earlier dm37dab. The sound is slightly beefier than the earlier model. Response is also hugely faster than the earlier model when flicking through the dab channels, meaning that you don't really need to use the pre sets, like you had to on the 37dab model. Everything is much more responisve. Build quality is the same as before.....solid, like a huge iron brick. The ability to play your ipod via the USB is again, a lovely upgrade from the earlier model. Plug your ipod in and even the id3 tags will scroll along the front digital panel. You can switch from displaying id tags from the unit to your ipod and back again with ease. Also, I have noticed with my unit...although a lot of reviewers have mentioned that id tags will only scroll if there are a limited amount of folders on your usb or ipod player; i.e., 255 folders with 255 files in each folder - I have found that this newer, 2011 model seems to have bypassed that limitation. It plays anything. I'm really glad that I took the plunge and upgraded to this newer model. It is also set up for DAB+, so it's future proof. Sound quality is brilliant....getting quite near to the quality of hi fi separates. It's very powerful, the power really starts kicking in from no. 9 on the volume level (it goes to 45). I use Denon's own speakers for this unit and am very happy with it. You simply could not go wrong with this product.
Bad Points
The only criticism is that the volume increments on each number. For example, you might have it on volume 9, and want a little bit more...but when you notch it to 10, 10 is a little more than you wanted to increase it by. Volume increments aren't as smooth as some models. Other than that, it's great.

      10 out of 10

Summary: It might look just like its predecessor, the D-M37DAB, but this little system is a surprisingly worthwhile upgrade

Conclusion: Denon's been doing this longer than most, and it shows. This is a very well-sorted, cost-effective system

    • whathifi.com

      10 out of 10

Summary: On the outside nothing much has changed, but inside the new Denon is an altogether improved beast of a micro

Pro : Same, solid styling; digital iPod input; sounds dynamic, punchy - and better than before

Cons : The USB connection is arguably not as neat as an integrated iPod dock
