I ordered a cooker on the understanding

I ordered a cooker on the understanding that it would be delivered in time for Christmas. It arrived damaged (cracked oven door) and was taken away. I phoned Empire Direct and was told that: delivery of a new cooker would be after Christmas. I explained that I needed a cooker as my old one was broken, and I have 5 children to feed, plus the fact that it was Christmas. After numerous telephone calls to Empire Direct, I asked for a refund. This I was on Friday 23 December 2005. However after checking my account on 24th December I found that E.D had NOT debited my account. I then contacted them again and was told that my account would be debited on the Wednesday after Christmas. I then had to rush making other arrangements for Christmas dinner. I telephoned my bank 28th December, only to be told that Empire Direct had not in fact paid any money into my account. I then telephoned them (ED) yet again, and was told that, the money had been paid in that day. Empire took my telephone number, then called me back to say the money was in the account. As at the time of writing this review it is not. I will complain to the managing director of Empire Direct for its poor level of service. I also had to pay a corgi registerd gas fitters call out charge, and he didnt even connect my gas cooker. I will never shop here again!!!
