John Lewis has been voted the UKs favourite retailer in a poll of over 6000 shoppers. The Consumer Satisfaction Index 2008, carried out by retail analysts Verdict Research, asked customers to rate retailers in terms of range, price, convenience, quality, service, ambience, facilities and layout.
I ordered a Mac computer from John Lewis because of the 2 year guarantee. After less than 1 year it went wrong. 7 repairs and it still wasn't fixed. The 2 year guarantee is useless. Now I won't buy anything from JL-they simply can't be trusted. Repair or replace on their guarantee means fudge and fudge and cause the customer lots of grief. Not worth the bother-shop elsewhere is my advice!
I bought 2 two seater sofas through the website. They were delivered yesterday. It was a really good experience buying from this store. The quality of the sofas is excellent. I would highly recommend John Lewis.
Overall I find John Lewis to have an excellent range of products and ranges! Unfortunately for me they're a bit out of my budget sometimes, but when i need something 'good' instead of just something to get me through, this is where i go!
Be careful ordering from this company. They did not put the full delivery address on the order for the carrier, then said it was the carrier's fault and responsibility. The plant was for my daughter-in-law on the birth of her baby and for delivery to the hospital. When they admitted finally, the mistake was theirs, they would not change the delivery address to her home address (where she now is) without taking another day to deliver. They offered no apology and no redress. Not what one expects from John Lewis
I went in to a store for a Camera and ordered it via their website. I was very impressed by the speed of the service. I ordered on a Saturday and it was despatched the following day (a Sunday), I knew this because I was sent the tracking information and could see it had been collected by the courier. It was then delivered at 7:31am on Monday morning. Can't go more wrong than that. Very recommended.
This is a review of John Lewis Direct not of the High Street Store, as they as different as chalk and cheese. Ordered an expensive small fridge. They stated that there were 10 available. Expected 7 working days delivery as advertised, but found out after enquiring after 8 days that the delivery would be 3 weeks. Went back in to their web site and lo and behold it did say 3 weeks but it was tucked away where it wouldn't be noticed. Never mentioned this when you go into check out and pay. They are very quick to bank your money, without giving any service. Will not go back
Website and delivery were fine - the problems only begun when we unpacked our new washer dryer. There were three completely separate points of damage, none of which had happened in transit, as all were near the corners and were covered by very strong and undamaged outer packaging. There were broken pieces, missing pieces of broken plastic and a loose piece of broken plastic that we never did identify. My husband telephoned John Lewis around 15 minutes after delivery and was just told that they'd contact us within 48 hours to arrange a new delivery for around a week's time. There was no apology whatsoever. At this point we'd only discovered one lot of damage - 10 minutes later he phoned back to report more damage and ask for a reasonable redelivery date. Eventually, after 15 minutes on the phone and their refusal to call anyone more senior to the phone in spite of repeated requests, they went from 7 days to 4 and then possibly 2 and said they would ring back to confirm. 24 hours later and still no phone call, so he phoned again. Redelivery had gone back up by a day and they still couldn't confirm but would ring back later with confirmation. Waited several more hours for return phone call - none came. At this point, we logged onto the website to check the order details there and found that it now showed another full payment had been taken from the credit card for a second machine - nearly £1000! At this point, husband phoned yet again. Finally got confirmation of the redelivery and assurances that a second payment has not been taken although the website account details say it has. Apparently, the online system just appears to take another payment! Obviously we'll be making sure that's the case. Appalling customer service - won't be buying anthing for home delivery from John Lewis again. All this hassle just to try and obtain something which we have paid them nearly £1000 for. NEVER AGAIN!
I was 'Surprised' at some Poor Reviews Here, I have bought from them for YEARS without Problem & If using their own Credit Card I get an extra 2% online or in store. [In Vouchers] The Robbers & Barclays/ Goldfish removed the EARNED POINTS from me because I cancelled my CARD. John Lewis will 'Match Price' & will usually offer a FREE Extended Guarantee.
DO NOT USE! THERE WAS NO PLACE FOR ME TO PUT 0 OR I WOULD HAVE. I ORDERED A IPOD FOR A GIFT, THEY NEVER DELIVERED AND TOLD ME THEY RAN OUT OF STOCK, TWO DAYS AFTER DELIVERY WAS MENT TO BE MAID, SPENT OVER 4 HOURS ON HOLD. TRUST ME STAY AWAY!
