I ordered a Philips WACS700 with Amazon on 6 November - it was showing as in stock. It was not until 8 December that I received an e-mail from them starting simply that they couldn't get any stock and had cancelled my order! Although I recommend using Amazon, I have had loads of problems with the free delivery. The normal delivery company they use doesnt do weekend deliveries, and since I am not usually at home it can become a nightmare trying to actually get my package (the delivery company are very hard to get hold of and their depot is too far to travel to). Over the past five years I have used Amazon dozens of times - mainly for books and CDs. It is by far the most reliable and easy-to use online store. Thumbs up...!!!!
My only (small) gripe is that I attempted once to write to them with an improvement suggestion - and the response I got clearly showed they hadn't read it, as it was a completely irrelevant response. Oh well - nobody's perfect... Read Full Review »

I ordered for Christmas, but being cynical I did order three weeks before to allow for chaos and the fact that I wasn't paying for next day delivery which would get priority.
Saying that one of my orders was getting late and I was able to phone up and TALK to someone, who was extremely polite and phoned the depot holding my order to find out what was going on and sort it out for me.

I love Amazon- cheapest prices anywhere, and free postage over £15 if all your products are bought from their stock.

I would not recommend using Amazon UK anymore at all. I have never received any of my orders on time ;-(

I only order 2 items per year, but when s delivery date tells me the 12th of november and the actual delivery date is the 22nd of november, something has gone odd.

Maybe it is due to the delivery service in Holland, but I find it very annoying and amateur-like.

On-line store has been poor since the non-amazon sellers were integrated. There's no easy way to filter non-amazon sellers out of the search results, so the first thing you know about it is high postage costs.

Amazon is truly excellent for books or items that have no working parts, but their customer care set up is awful for electrical products. You can't speak to anyone - there are no numbers - so if the online process doesn't work for you (eg you don't have a printer), you're stuffed. I emailed, tried to contact them but no answer.
