Biting off more than they can chew. Wrong estimated delivery times. Twice. Last date of last estimated time was yesterday, goods yet to arrive. Inconvenience beyond belief. Their excuse, 'stuff' might happen that can delay the whole order. What sort of 'stuff'??? Beats me. Ordered Toshiba LCD TV 32WLT68, as advertised by Amazon. They delivered a 32WLT68PG. Subtle difference? The 'PG' model is European and is not fully compatible with UK digital broadcasts. They have now changed their advert. They took the TV back after a very poor collection service (2 weeks) and made a refund. Having ordered the camera I waited, and waited and waited. The online tracking said it had been delivered,but it had not. Amazon would not track the delivery for ten days, which ment the trail had gone cold and who knows who has my camera now. Got a refund ok, wished I had gone elsewere from the start. Bought stacks of stuff from Amazon - never had any problems with delivery, damage, postage or packages being left unattended outside the hose. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them or purchase from them again. Agree postage can be high for certain items purchased from their 'associates', but at least they tell you before you commit to buy. There's a very good reason why amazon are such a large and successful online retailer. They're Big and they're Good!
Most of the faults other people have mentioned seem to be because they didn't know how to get around the website or didn't read the details when ordering.

I've been using amazon since 2001, reckon I've spent in excess of £4k in that time on Music, DVDs, Books, Cameras, MP3 players, even kitchen stuff and toothbrushes. Always faultless delivery, only once have I had to return something, that was a CD that arrived in cellophane but without the CD actually in (manufacturers fault), return process was a cinch. You may find it odd that I've recommended them when I think their customer care is "poor". Well, I think that if your product is good then you'll get a good price and efficient service. On balance, Amazon uk is a reasonable place to buy from; the free delivery is ok, if a bit slow. However, their standard pack, even for small items, is so big it never fits through the letterbox, and it's inconvenient to collect from the depot.
The Marketplace sellers look cheap, but they generally add huge 'P&P' costs - e.g. GBP £4 for a £3 SD photo card (!), and they don't qualif... Read Full Review »
