Mattress Man

Like all mattress companies they promise next-day delivery, and make a big deal about this. But they don't give you a specific time (just 0800-1300), nor get the courier to call you when they are half an hour away, as many are happy to do.

Having taken a half day off work to sit for four hours in a cold house that I don't live in and am about to rent out to tenants, I am very annoyed to then receive a call as late as 1200 to say that they failed to load the mattress onto the delivery van and delivery will have to be rescheduled. You might have thought they would let you know earlier in the morning that delivery was not happening. You would also have thought they might be a bit contrite and apologise or even give up some of their profit margin as a goodwill gesture for my time that they have wasted, or source a replacement mattress locally, or let me find a new mattress and pay for any special courier that might be needed to deliver the same day. But not a bit of it. These are greedy people who want to hang onto the profit they have made from you at all costs and do nothing to rectify cases where they have let their customers down.

They claim on Kelkoo that if you order before 3pm they 'guarantee' to deliver the next working day. Yeah right. Load of tosh. What they actually do is run straight to some spurious 'terms and conditions' that must be buried on their web site. So don't fall for that one.

Avoid these cowboys like the plague is my advice.
