In July I ordered on-line two pieces of flat pack furniture from Tesco via Tesco direct.

With little notice they changed the time of delivery and although I told them I could not be there at that time and tried to cancel, the goods were delivered and left outside my flat.

Then when I had put the furniture together I found that a piece of a hinge for the glass door of the display cabinet was missing. I phoned and asked for one to be sent to me and was told that as the furniture came from Denmark they could not (would not?) get the piece for me. I was told to buy the piece and send the bill to Tesco. This proved to be impossible.
I wrote a letter of complaint, ignored.

I phoned several times but was told they could (would?) do nothing.

The best i got was a suggestion that I take the furniture to pieces again and send it back to them and they would replace it. This is impossible unless I take a hammer to it as the thing is glued together (the glue came with the pack).

So I would say to anyone thinking of buying from Tesco Direct, DON'T. If anything is wrong with it, it is unlikely to be rectified even if it is their fault.
