The only thing that let this transaction

The only thing that let this transaction down was the delivery men. I did have a bit of trouble ordering but that was more due to my bank rather than the supplier. I was a little let down in that I was originally advised the night before, by text, that my delivery would be between 8 & 12 and then received a call at 8.10 on the morning of delivery saying that it would be between 11 & 3 with no good explanation as to why. The item arrived at 2.30 but contrary to supplier s advice (online) that the delivery men would unpack & as it was clear they were not going to, I started to unpack & immediately discovered a 9" scratch with 2 small dents in the bottom 1" of the scratch. When this was pointed out to the delivery man he gave it a rub (with his very dirty hand) which then made it a dirt engrained scratch and proclaimed that "it was nothing" and "just a pimple". As he made no attempt to contact the supplier (again, as advised online) so that "the matter could be resolved immediately" I had to ask him to do so. When I made this request I was informed by him in a negative tone that "they ll only offer you 10% [discount]" almost like he did not want me to complain and/or that the discount would be coming out of his pocket! As it happens, the man I spoke to at the supplier was extremely professional and helpful and the issue of the discount was very satisfactorily resolved - at more than 10% I might add! Also, re delivery man/men. They arrived in an ordinary self-hire van from somewhere up North (I think, Bolton but I can t be sure) ie not in a van with the supplier s name on it. When I answered the door, they were not very professional in that there was no eye contact, no introduction as to who they were and they didn t even ask me to confirm who I was. They then managed to "drop" the item off the trolley down the one stair in my property on the way to the kitchen and when I said "that won t have done it much good" they treated this as a joke and then tried to tell me that it was the trolley that had gone down with a bang, not the item, even though I had seen it with my own eyes. Finally, re the delivery man/men - and I feel uncomfortable mentioning this but am going to as I feel that it does not project a professional image for the supplier but they actually really smelt unclean - and I m not talking one day s honest sweat on a clean body that morning. If I did not know better, I would go so far as to say that they were either homeless or gentlemen of the road! Shame really.
