I am writing this review after speaking

I am writing this review after speaking with Hughes Direct about a delivery I had expected today.

Upon placing an order to replace a broken down fridge freezer I was asked for my preferred delivery date. I then had a phone call confirming that although stock was not held by Hughes, Hotpoint should be delivering direct on this particular date. Obvoiusly I stayed at home to take delivery, but decided I better contact Hughes to confirm delivery as I had not heard from anyone. I initially email two hours later no delivery and no email response. So I called them. Delivery was still not expected for 7 - 10 days. The customer advisor was not very helpful or forth coming with information. When I asked if he knew whether I could contact Hotpoint to find out the situation, he eventually offered to find out more from a colleague. The outcome much the same - sit on my hands and wait for about a week longer!

I understand Hughes are basically at the hands of their supplier but they could:
1. Avoid giving the impression at point of order delivery will be 8 days when it is unlikely.
2. Improve communication - a useful service which I am sure they used once considering they have been trading for 85 years. Update customers when a delivery date approaches and stock is still not available and try and be as helpful as you can when the customer tries to establish what the situation is after being let down.

On the plus side their prices are very reasonable. However I would have paid more to take delivery sooner!
