Flaming Barbecues

I bought a Billyoh barbecue from Flaming Barbecues. When I assembled it I discovered that a cabinet door would not close and the whole base structure was flimsy. The propane regulator would not fit onto the gas bottle and I had to replace it. Then the rotisserie motor failed after about three minutes operation.
Two days after delivery I emailed Kybotech and sent a letter via Royal Mail saying that I wanted a full refund due to the poor quality of the product. Two days later I sent a further email asking for a refund. The latter email triggered a standard response saying they would endeavour to reply within 5 working days.
Four weeks after delivery I had received no response so I sent a recorded delivery letter saying that unless I received a full refund within 14 days I would initiate a Small Claims Procedure. This time Kybotech responded saying they would supply replacement parts. I replied that I did not want replacement parts but a full refund and that the barbecue had been dismantled and repacked in the original carton.
A parcel bearing the words "barbecue parts" was left on my doorstep while we were out. This I kept safely but did not open.
Kybotech then emailed to say I had accepted their t and c and I had failed to notify them of the problems within 10 working days. Clearly they were denying receipt of any of two emails and a letter.
No refund was made so I started the Small Claims Procedure. Within a few days I had a letter of apology and an undertaking of a full refund plus a cheque covering the £30 for the Small Claims Procedure. Within a week I had the refund and the cheque and a few days later the barbecue was collected and I also returned the unopened parcel.
I would advise everyone to avoid purchasing from any of the Kybotech companies as they seem to try everything to avoid their responsibilities under the consumer protection laws until faced with legal action.
