Bought a Erbauer ERB905D 3mm Planer from

Bought a Erbauer ERB905D 3mm Planer from Screw Fix on 9th June, 2006. After getting this planer home, I put a straight edge across the base plate. There is a 0.6mm gap at the cutting plane (straight edge touches at the base plate at outer edges). This might not sound much, but as the plane takes a maximum cut of 3.0mm, this is 20% of the cut depth. The result on the cut wood is a curved face, which apex is appx 300mm from the start of the cut. Screw Fix did not want to replace or give my money back. I have taken the planer apart and have found various thicknesses of packing washers under the base plate, all of which have done little to amend the inaccuracy of the planer. Parts that are silver colored are not metal, they are spray painted plastic! DO NOT BUY!
