I contacted Miller Brothers Customer Services re ordering a Cannon Chester cooker and spoke to a lady called Pat who was very helpful with a query I had regarding delivery men carrying a cooker upstairs into my flat.

Pat telephoned the courier on my behalf and asked them whether this would be possible, and although the courier thought that this would be unlikely due to some of the drivers not wishing to do this, I was very impressed that Pat had taken the trouble to enquire on my behalf.

I have to say, that none of the internet companies will arrange for delivery upstairs in a flat, so I was not surprised at the outcome (there are a few companies who will do this for a £40.00 charge which is extortionate when I only have about 11 stairs! Apparantely, not carrying heavy items upstairs is part of the new European laws/directives!?? I find this very strange, as delivery people in Edinburgh, Scotland will quite happily carry heavy items up several flights of stairs in the tenemental flats without any complaint or extra charge!? I guess I live in the wrong country! :-)
