      2nd-generation iPod nano

      By Christopher Breen

Review summary: How else can you describe the second-generation nano but as the resurrection of the iPod mini?

Verdict: The second-generation nano feels and looks great, with a rugged aluminium finish and bright display. Add the vastly improved battery, high-quality recording and search functions, and you've found this Christmas's must-have purchase.

Pros: New aluminium design and colours, Brighter display, Drop in price, Search function, Gapless playback. Better battery life

Cons: No extras such as FM radio, Not all colours available for each size

Cons: no video support, small screen; no video playback

Verdict: A modest cosmetic upgrade, but the competitive pricing should guarantee success for the new iPod nano

Apple iPod nano 8 GB (2nd Generation)

      By Mike Kobrin

Pros: Sturdy metal casing. Very slim. Bright screen. Supports Audible and lossless compression. Very good sound quality. Cool new search feature. Excellent software integration. Gapless playback. Long battery life.

Verdict: This is the finest flash player out there in terms of look and feel. Other players have the iPod beat in terms of features, but I like the iPod's lossless compression and Audible support, as well as the cool new search feature.
