Kelkoo Company Profile

Kelkoo.com was founded in 2000, following mergers with Zoomit, Dondecomprar and Shopgenie. Within 2 years of launching, Kelkoo became Europe's largest e-commerce website after Amazon and Ebay and the largest e-commerce advertising platform both in the UK and Europe.

Kelkoo now operates in 10 European countries and receives over 8.5 million unique users monthly (over 3 million in the UK) from users across Europe(1). Kelkoo has been profitable since Q4 2002.

Kelkoo is a one-stop shopping service, which helps shoppers to find, research and buy products online with confidence. We provide shoppers with essential tools to compare prices and product features in seconds. Kelkoo users can save on over 2 million products (2) including major brand names like Calvin Klein, Gucci, HP, Dell, Fuji, Black & Decker, Bosch, Smeg, GHD, Nokia, Aston Martin and Nike.

Our mission is to help UK consumers find great shopping value online, fast.

In the UK, 41 of the top 50 retailers currently advertise on Kelkoo. Amongst Kelkoo's more than 2,400 UK advertising clients(3) are leading online names like Amazon, Dabs.com, Play.com, Ebookers, Figleaves, Opodo and Lastminute, as well as big high street brand names such as Comet, Dixons, John Lewis, Littlewoods, Carphone Warehouse, WHSmith and Tesco.

Kelkoo was nominated by Nielsen/Netratings one of the 10 most influential websites of the decade(4), and received praise by the BBC Online for "paving the way for online shopping". In October 2004 Nielsen NetRatings and BBC described Kelkoo as "the dominant shopping guide" in the UK. At the same time, Hitwise announced that Kelkoo was the number 1 UK website, based on visits to the Shopping & Classifieds - Rewards and Directories category.

In the UK, Kelkoo has a network of 4,000 affiliates as well as agreements to power the shopping channels of: Ask.com Shopping, Yahoo! UK and Ireland Shopping and GMTV Shopping.

CEO Richard Stables

Rich has a wealth of experience in high volume, transactional internet companies spanning both sides of the Atlantic and covering operational, commercial and technology based roles. Prior to joining Kelkoo in February 2009 he was CTO at uSwitch.com where he re-engineered the business approach to projects as well their subsequent delivery.

Prior to moving back to the UK Rich was instrumental in the turnaround of Stamps.com, a Los Angeles based internet business and also built their very popular photosstamps system. He also consulted for PWC in a large number of start up and high growth internet businesses around the turn of the century.

Rich holds a PhD and MA in International Relations from Warwick and a BA in History from Exeter and lives in Surrey with his wife and young family.
