Flax or bamboo: The natural materials

Certification allows you to verify that the objects or furniture one buys are truly green products. There are different certifications.ISO 14001 ensures that the company processes are environment sensitive, which is to say, the company seeks to master the impact of its activities on the environment.
The FSC certification (for Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Program for Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) guarantee that the wood comes from managed sustainable forests: it is, therefore, not deforestation, which is particularly important if you buy exotic wood like teak for example.
For painting, there are several eco-labels: the European Eco-Label, the label NF Environment and the Blue Angel.
For textiles, there are a wide variety of labels, such as Skal, Demeter, Imo Naturtextil. The European certification that ensures organic production is the standard 2092/91.
What will make the difference?
The words that count: Recyclable / Recycled
Some objects or furniture are presented as recyclable: they are made from natural materials such as wood or bamboo, for example. Others are recycled: they were made from recycled, non-biodegradable materials. Materials such as plastic bags, bottles and even food packs can be recycled to manufacture new products such as table cloth or table mats.
Finally, you can also find objects that are recycled as well as recyclable, combining both the ecological processes, in upstream and downstream manufacturing. This applies to cardboard furniture. The compressed wood allows reusing wooden scrap or old furniture residues to make new furniture for home.
Think durable: The resistance
The more a product is robust, the more sustainable it is and therefore environmentally friendly: if you do not have to change it often, you can reduce the impact on environment by creating less waste altogether.
Don't forget the packaging
Packaging of objects counts just as much. A biodegradable and environmentally friendly packaging such as cardboard is something that you can take into account when buying an object of decoration.
The right decoration
